La Belle Lucie Solitaire

La Belle Lucie Solitaire is a single-player card game that is markedly different from what you may be used to with other card games. It makes many fundamental changes to how the game is played, and this can make it tricky at first. Our guide, though, should help you learn everything you need to know about the game.

How to Play La Belle Lucie Solitaire

Firstly, it’s easy to find free La Belle Lucie Solitaire online, and this is the easiest way to get started playing this game.

La Belle Lucie Solitaire is played by building up sequences in what are called “fans”. We’ll cover exactly what these fans are shortly. They work like tableaus in other forms of solitaire. You will construct suited sequences of cards in order that you can get access to all cards for the foundation piles.

So, what exactly is the goal of the game?

Goal

The goal of Labelle Lucie Solitaire is to create four foundations with every card from each suit in sequence, starting from Ace and going up to King. As mentioned, you will achieve this by building sequences carefully in the tableaus such that you can get access to all the cards you need for the foundations.

In many ways, the layout is what sets La Belle Lucie Solitaire apart.

Layout

There are seventeen fans to start off with in La Belle Lucie Solitaire. At the start, each of these fans contains three cards, except for the final which starts off with only one. There is no stock pile in this form of solitaire.

You then have four foundations at the top of the play space. All cards, then, are arranged into the fans. All cards in the fans are face up so you can see the whole spread.

Allowed Moves

The allowed moves in La Belle Lucie Solitaire free are as follows:

  1. Cards can be played to the card that is one above them in the same suit. So, for example, a Two of clubs can be played only to the Three of clubs, if it is available.
  2. Cards can be played to the foundations starting with Aces and ascending in suit. Like other forms of solitaire, foundations are built in ascending value, by suit, with the ace being the first card.
  3. You can redeal the spread twice. La Belle Lucie Solitaire is a fairly unforgiving game, but you are allowed to reshuffle the fans twice during play.
  4. After the second redeal, an empty space is made available. You can move any card to this space.

Strategies for Winning

To win in La Belle Lucie Solitaire, you’ll need to keep the following in mind:

  • Try to keep foundations even. If one foundation becomes very long, cards will most likely end up stuck.
  • Check where the destination card could be moved before playing a card. Once you’ve moved a card it can’t be moved back, so think about whether the card you’re playing it to could be placed elsewhere.
  • Always build on Kings. The cards beneath a King are blocked in any case, so you’re always safe to build here.
